I often am asked how a small business can get funding from the government. While there have been some books published about the process, the truth is that while government funding is tricky it is not impossible. In fact if you know what you are a doing it can even be consistent. I know several business owners who have found ways to get funding from the government several times!

Ultimately if you are in need of start up capital, there is no reason you should at least attempt to get some government funding.

Government Grants Funding

Most government funding comes in the form of grants. Governments will fund businesses for several reasons through grants. Typically they are looking for ways that they can benefit local, state wide or national economies. They tend to be more specific, however just starting a business can improve the economy in the form of job creation, bringing in foreign dollars, etc… so there is no reason your business couldn’t be in the running.
